ネットワーク図の概要

ネットワーク図(図1がその例です)は、通常、ハードウェアノードとその間の接続を表すために使用します。おそらく、ステレオタイプのアイコンを多用して大雑把に書いたUML配置図だということができるでしょう。

ネットワーク図は、ソフトウェアの作図ツールを使って作成することが多く、図1はMicrosoft Visioを使って書いたものですが、だからといってホワイトボードなどのもっとシンプルなツールを使ってはいけないということではありません。手書きのネットワーク図を作成して、作図ツールを使って書いた「きれいな」ネットワーク図や詳細なUML配置図のたたき台にすることはよくあります。
ネットワーク図のスコープは、1つのアプリケーションのこともあれば、アプリケーション群であったり、会社全体のことさえあります。会社のネットワーク図が入手できる場合には、アプリケーションレベルのネットワーク図やUML配置図のたたき台として使うこともあります。ネットワーク図とインストール用スクリプトを組み合わせて、詳細なUML配置図の代わりに使うこともよくあります。
